Lavender (Lavendula Officinalis) grows wild along the Mediterranean coast but is extensively cultivated in England and France. Known for its unmistakable aroma, Lavender has been used in aromatherapy for centuries. Its calming properties are said to help ease several emotional disorders, from insomnia to anxiety, and it is said to be particularly good for depression.
Frankincense (Boswellia Carterii), also called Olibanum, can grow wild in the deserts of Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Ethiopia and is produced from the resin of the Boswellia tree. This essential oil is known to reduce stress and ease tension through diffusion, making it a wonderfully effective meditative aid.
